Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

This incident caused the partial shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody related to a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of several individuals hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
